I know this isn’t the thrust of your article, but you had a paragraph that did help possibly explain something that I have been thinking about for a bit.

It has always seemed strange to me as to why the usage of physical idols/carved images went on the decline for religions around the world. Yes, of course they exist and heavily in some areas… but even in those places, they have largely been phased out as compared to thousands of years of prior history. Politically even more so. In fact, many of the idols have actually been hijacked from a commercial standpoint. Probably more idols in circulation in the West by virtue-signalers who think there Pottery Barn buddha makes them sophisticated citizens of humanity, than anywhere else.
