Although he is taciturn and contradictory, at least here Lao Tzu describes the Tao as eternal and immutable and outside creation:

“There was something undefined and complete, coming into existence before Heaven and Earth. How still it was and formless, standing alone, and undergoing no change, reaching everywhere and in no danger (of being exhausted)! It may be regarded as the Mother of all things.”

- Dao De Jing, ch. 25 [1]

Such also is Jesus: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever.” (Heb. 13.8)

Thank you for this terrifying warning to conform our minds to reality, to the Tao, to Jesus.
