Save! O LORD!
Truly the Covenant Lover has ceased to have a place;
truly the truthful-faithful do not appear among the sons of men.
These speak deceptively, each man to his neighbor,
with idolatrous lips in the heart. And thus their heart speaks!
May the LORD cut off all idolatrous lips,
the tongue that utters great words,
those who say, “By our tongue we are mighty;
our lips are our own, who is lord to us?”
“Because of the devastation of the poor,
of the groaning of the needy, now I arise,” says the LORD,
“I will put in place salvation for he who longs for it.”
The words of the LORD are words without alloy,
silver refined in a furnace on the earth, seven times purified.
YOU, LORD, keep them with care,
protect us forever from this generation.
The lawless prowl all around,
seeking exaltation, worthlessness is the lot of the sons of men.
Psalm 12 speaks to us today, right now. The Psalmist cries out for protection and salvation from the deceptive, idolatrous, and lawless, as the poor are devastated and groaning in agony, and the lover and speaker of Truth is banished and excluded. The Lord hears the cry and responds. His response was the same then as it is now and will be in the future, as the devastation and groaning rise to insufferable levels, and the banished and excluded are violently persecuted and murdered. It is not the response we may want, but the one we need.
“Truly the Covenant Lover has ceased to have a place; truly the truthful-faithful do not appear among the sons of men.” This describes the present state of the world perfectly, but its understated expression conceals untold horror. The City of God, the remnant of those who still love and obey truth, is eclipsed, gone, lost, unpresent. Only the City of Man remains. Thus the world that we see and experience and live within, a world that we are being made to see, experience, and live within through psychological and spiritual manipulation of the most sophisticated and totalitarian kind, is bereft of being, of reality, of love, of truth, of God. It is a hell on earth that is emerging, and is all but here. The plandemic was the perfect instantiation of this, where those who spoke the truth, and the truths they spoke, were disappeared from existence. Only the Covenant Hater and mendacious-treacherous had a place and appeared among the sons of men, including the sons of the Church, who were the most mendacious and treacherous. In the Church now the few orthodox and repentant left among the clergy and laity have lost all public authority and influence, and are forced to hide together in virtual catacombs and upper rooms, both for fear of the Jews—saying “Christ is King” is now “anti-semitic”—and for fear of the “Catholics,” those who follow the Usurper.
“These speak deceptively, each man to his neighbor, with idolatrous lips in the heart. And thus their heart speaks!” Lies are the lingua franca of today’s City of Man, and idolatry is its only commerce. And these are both the cause and the effect of the public disappearance of the faithful. Notice that the Psalmist places these together, as they must be. For a lie is always an idol, and an idol is always a lie. As Josef Pieper teaches us, our words remove a piece of reality from the person to whom we lie, for words reveal and transmit reality, and lies are anti-words eclipsing and occluding reality. And since the greatest reality is God, the act of idolatry in speech is the greatest lie, removing God from human discourse by replacing Him with words signifying nothing. From our hearts come words that either speak God into existence for ourselves and others, in imitation of the Sacred Heart of the Word Incarnate, or they speak Him out of existence through idolatrous deception. Every word authorized to appear in the public square, which itself is a virtual simulacrum of reality, speaks God out of existence, and any unauthorized, godly ones that happen to get through are immediately twisted into their opposite or just directed to the nearest memory hole, which are ubiquitous. A man is a woman. Mutilation is care. A bioweapon is a vaccine. A same-sex couple being blessed is not blessing a same-sex couple. Genocide is self-defense. We never said the vaccine was safe and effective. Food and housing were never cheaper in the past, and the cities are cleaner and safer than they have ever been. Totalitarianism is a thing of the past.
“May the LORD cut off all idolatrous lips, the tongue that utters great words, those who say, ‘By our tongue we are mighty; our lips are our own, who is lord to us?’” The Psalmist has presented the reader with the problem in his day, as it is in ours, and he requests from God an apt solution. The problem is that his world was dominated by those who made themselves God, for they rejected all authority other than power, and their own power at that. And they attained this domination by lying. The global totalitarianism that is now almost complete, perhaps to be ushered in in tota by the next and final scamdemic presided over by Antichrist and his minions in Church and Empire, was nothing but the systematic, technocratic, bureaucratic installation of lies, with the complicity of many of the lied-to, a situation described to perfection by George Orwell in 1984. Since God has all the power, the solution is for God to destroy the idols and disempower their ability to lie. Notice that the Psalmist doesn’t demand that they themselves be destroyed, only their power to sin, or at least the effects of it. This is a foreshadowing of the “Wheat and Tares” parable, as well as Our Lord’s command to love our enemies. It is the perfect solution, it would seem, but God has another one, and for a different problem.
“Because of the devastation of the poor, of the groaning of the needy, now I arise,” says the LORD. I will put in place salvation for he who longs for it.” It is not because of the displacement of the righteous from public view and authority that God arises, but because of the suffering of the poor. It is the poor, those who always suffer the most from traitorous leaders when authority becomes pure power, who are helpless to defend themselves, and whose suffering goes most unnoticed and least cared about, for which God arises. But His solution is not to empower them materially or socially or to disempower their torturers. And it is not directed only at the poor, but also to the displaced righteous. And here we come to the most profound verse of the Psalm. God arises to “put in place salvation for he who longs for it.”
Here we see most where this Psalm speaks to us, both the poor and the displaced righteous (well, repentant at best, and then only sometimes). I can’t count the times I have asked God, especially since March of 2020, to arise and destroy all the evil (and not just by cutting off idolatrous lips . . .) He hasn’t. And the evil keeps growing and becoming more intolerable, unspeakable, unfathomable. But for God, there is an even greater evil, the greatest evil, opposing the greatest good, the Evil for which He arises and always arises to destroy so that He may give us the good He wants us to have above all and always wants to give us. During these past few years I have tried to understand why God is allowing this level and extent of evil, a literal hell on earth, and what kept coming to me is this: It is to force us to cry out to Him. And this Psalm verse confirms this. The greatest good man can obtain is salvation, eternal life with God in Heaven, and the sine qua non of obtaining it is to desire it, to long for it. When we do this, God arises to give it to us. The greatest evil is eternal damnation, and what causes us to obtain it is also desire. When we do not desire salvation, when we long for lying idols instead, we are telling God that we do not want it, which is to say, that we would rather have damnation.
God will eventually cut off all idolatrous lips; indeed, he will annihilate the City of Man and the Antichrist, as the Book of Revelation tells us. And this will usher in the City of God on earth for “a thousand years.” This is the Era of Peace, preceding the final onslaught of Antichrist and the End of Time. Perhaps we will live to see this Era, for the Great Chastisement that must precede is imminent, if not already upon us. And He will arise today, and is already doing so, but not by violent retribution for the evildoers and vindication of the just. This is just not happening, and will not happen until the End of the Era. What He is doing—and permitting—is everything He can to make us long for salvation, and He is putting salvation in place for those who do. Yes, we must denounce evil and stand up for the truth (and I wouldn’t mind seeing all the plandemic villains, child mutilators, and Zionist mass murderers of Gazan women and children given the death penalty). But let us transform our great suffering and those of others into pangs of longing for God, for Heaven, for the Kingdom of His Divine Will.
“The words of the LORD are words without alloy, silver refined in a furnace on the earth, seven times purified. YOU, LORD, keep them with care, protect us forever from this generation. The lawless prowl all around, seeking exaltation, worthlessness is the lot of the sons of men.”
The words of the Lord—silver, not gold here, because incarnate and active and enmeshed in this debased world—are the antidote. He will keep us in His care, and protect us forever from this generation of the lawless as well as the Lawless One who is to come, soon. But His care is primarily for our souls, and He wants above all for us to long and increase our longing for His salvation, to become the Sons of God that we already are. This is our prime directive. Anything else compared to this is as worthless as the lot of the sons of men.
Future earthly millennial kingdom?
Are you sure about that?
Much to ponder here as we enter the awesome Mystery of Christ's Passion.
